Reverend James A. Skipper Jr. is a living testimony proclaiming the gospel of Jesus the Christ. He was born in the Bronx in New York City. He is married to Psalmist Josette S. Skipper and has four children and three grandchildren.
For the last six years, he has been employed at the National Children Center (NCC) as the Senior Program Coordinator for the Community Day Service Program. Before joining NCC, he held numerous Case Manager positions. He graduated from The College of New Rochelle with a Bachelor's degree in Social Science. He continued his education by receiving a Master's degree in Healthcare Administration from Strayer University in Washington, DC. He also received a graduate certificate from the National Association of Christian Ministers from the Theological Mentor Program.
Reverend Skipper has worked diligently for the Kingdom of God and did whatever was needed for the church and in the community. He served on the junior and intermediate usher's ministry and the missionary ministry under the leadership of the late Pastor Charles Britt. Pastor Britt later nominated him for Deaconship. Greater Zion Baptist Church accepted him as a full-pledged Deacon following his training. After the death of Pastor Britt, he was one of two young adults who was elected to serve on the pulpit search committee.
After two years on a sabbatical, Reverend Skipper was called to preach the gospel to those who seem to be forgotten and the less fortunate. Reverend Skipper was called to be the "Assistant Pastor of Jesus is Justice Ministries" under the leadership of Bishop Julius A. Sloan, Pastor of The Alpha and Omega Apostolic Church. He served faithfully there until God led him to Christ Temple Baptist Church, where he served as the Youth Pastor for seven years under the leadership of Pastor Charles E. Smith. Once again, Reverend Skipper answered the call of God and was sent out to become the organizer and Pastor of the House of the Redeemed Ministries. After serving two years as organizer and Pastor, he relocated to the Washington DC area.
After searching for a church home, Reverend Skipper was led to the Morning Star Baptist Church, where he joined by letter in good standing. He served there as an Associate Minister for two years under the leadership of Reverend Gerald Martin. Reverend Skipper and his family thought it was best for them to leave Morning Star Baptist Church and join Friendship Church Outreach Ministries under the leadership of, at that time, Pastor Dr. Bonnie Hunter, who is now the Bishop.
Pastor Skipper was called to a prayer breakfast to preach the gospel by a group of friends and associates. The House of the Redeemed Church Outreach Ministry Inc. was organized with twelve other members.
